Double-saddled Butterflyfish (Chaetodon falcula )The body is compressed and oval. The dorsal profile of the head is concave. The snout is long and pointed. The eyes are masked by a black band. On the back one notes two large saddle-shape splotches. The odd-numbered fins are yellow. The caudal peduncle is adorned by a dark ring. The body is whitish, with dark vertical striations. This fish almost always lives in pairs, and feeds upon invertebrates. It prefers the shallower areas of the reef. It grows to be eighteen centimeters in length. |
